Tips on how to live a meaningful life
Follow your heart
Ask yourself what do you love? Take steps to do what you love. By doing what you love, you will be inspired and inspire others.
Get in touch with all your passions
Don’t try to find that ONE thing that you’re meant to do; this could be the very reason why you feel as if something is missing. You CAN be a designer, a writer, a traveller and a scientist! Keep a purpose journal. Write down your thoughts about life’s purpose, passions and joys. Assess what you currently do, and what needs to change to lead a more purposeful life. Schedule the fun stuff and keep that appointment! The need to seek purpose comes from a lack of passion. Get in touch with your passions.
Be yourself
We are all unique. Are you expressing who you are? Are you trying to please everyone else or trying to be someone else? Being you is a grand purpose, embrace this, love this!
Say yes more
Life is full of decisions. Be brave and say yes when you might have otherwise have said no. Every time you push past your fears you become more of the person you want to be. A lot of the time meaningful opportunities will be hiding in places outside of your comfort zone. Don’t live your life wishing that you had done things differently.
Dream
Dreams provide insights into personal needs, desires and concerns. Embrace mindfulness and self-reflection to determine which experiences were life giving and which were life draining. Be mindful of who you think you are and become open and curious to what you aspire to.
Make time for yourself
This is seriously important to your well-being. Get to know yourself and enjoy your own company. The more we get to know ourselves the more confident we feel in the decisions we make.
Just do it
Instead of overthinking things – What if it doesn’t work out? What if I don’t like it? Start taking steps towards your goals. Get out of your own way! By acting upon what you realise about yourself, you are consciously creating a life that matters.
We only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. Don’t live your life on auto-pilot, take control and seek opportunities that will add depth and significance to your life. Yes, the purpose of life is a life of purpose. Enjoy your own awesome journey!
