At 18 Blake landed in Whistler with a backpack, pair of skis, and desire for adventure in the mountains. He got a job as a night time ski tuner for blackcomb with a staff of veteran shredders that he started shooting.
After a few years of skiing and taking photos all day and tuning skis at night he made a submision of 20 slides to Powder magazine around 1999/2000 and without warning one day picked up a copy to find a shot in the shooting gallery of the mag. That first published shot fueled the fire to pursue photography and in 2001 Blake won Whislters prestigious Pro Photographer showdown and got his first cover of Powder of Dave Gauley from Mt. Deborah Alaska. By 2003 he had been fired from Blackcomb for taking too many days off to take photos and became a senior photographer for Powder magazine and also won Powders photo of the year. Over ten years later Blake has travelled all over the word for a huge list of international clients and shot with the biggest names of action sports, has over 300 covers, won a second pro photographer showdown, been voted Whistlers photgrapher of the year 7 times in a row, and still loves to take photos and have them seen in Powder magazine.
